 ApplesStrawberry Roan Mare. Apples had been looking for a retirement home for quite some time after retiring from riding school life in the summer, so when the opportunity to become a companion horse came along, it was just too good to miss. Apples has been at Kingsmead since 2017and been a lovely, dependable and most sweet riding school pony we could’ve asked for - her retirement is well deserved.Thank you Apples for being such a legendary pony!  Robbie(Clogheen Roberto) Piebald Gelding 2006 15hh Cob. Robbie has retired and gone to live with another one of our past residents Bilboa where the pace of life if slower. He has been here at Kingsmead for over 10 years and in that time he has taught countless people to ride, taught even more how to jump and taken so many riders with additional needs. Robbie was voted 2018's Horse Of The Year and will be missed by his herd. January 2026 |
 Magic(Black Magic) Black Mare 2015 13.1hh Welsh Section C. Magic has moved in with our very own yard manager - Sophie! Sophie and Magic developed a special bond from her first arrival and they are looking forwards to spending some more quality time together. January 2026 |
 TigerBay Gelding - Tiger has gone to a lovely new home where we hope he will make lots of happy memories with his new owners, he was always just passing through. January 2026 |
 NechtaBay Mare 2005 17.3hh Anglo Dutch Warmblood. Nechta was talented, bold, laid back (until she wanted to go), brave, kind, honest, quirky and very, very special. She was with us for over 15 years. "Nechta taught me more than I ever thought I could learn, in life and in the saddle. She really was the horse of a lifetime; she was all I needed." - Chris. Nechta was put to sleep surrounded by love and friends. November 2025 |
 HarryPiebald gelding 2006 8hh Miniature Shetland. Little Harry has been offered a job! When we were asked if I knew a pony who would happily be an emotional support travelling companion, Harry sprung to mind. We will always take opportunities to rehome our oldies as long as we know the life they are being offered is right. October 2025 |
 CherryStrawberry Roan Mare. Our lovely little Cherry is now ready to retire; still full of beans, sweet as ever and healthy, but is ready for a change of pace. By well-aligned coincidence, another one of our retired KEC ponies Titchy just lost her current field mate and is in need of some company. Her owner reached out to us to ask if we had any ponies that would know Titchy and needed retiring, naturally, Cherry was the perfect candidate. Cherry is now off to live with an old friend - Sept 2025 |
 Edward(Leanonleo) Bay Gelding 16.1hh, Thoroughbred. Rest in Peace, 2004 - 2024. Ed will be greatly missed by the team here who have worked so hard to get him better, sadly old age and reoccurring ill health meant we couldn’t keep him comfortable any longer. He will be remembered for being a slightly cantankerous old man, an athlete and the racehorse! He was so loving, so kind and a true character. Run free dear boy (just don’t tell them you were a racehorse!) |
 Miles(The Milestone Man) Dun Gelding, 2008, 16hh, Irish Draught X. In september this year (2024) Miles left us to live out a long and happy retirement with Stephen, Allison and Charlotte. Miles left us in fine form, however this last year he has struggled as a riding school horse. As he got older it became very clear that he preferred one or two riders who understood his needs. |

 JessieReturned home to owner. 2024. |
 Mr P(Pinoccio) Bay Gelding, 2007. Retired 2024. Mr P retired to his new home with Maarit where he has made new friends and is loving the quiet life. |
 BellaBella was retired from the school and moved to a family home. |

 TopseyTopsey retired to the Kent coast in 2020 with Bekki her owner, this was the end of an era as Topsey was the last KEC original. We could not have ended that era on a more positive note, sending off this lovely pony both happier and healthier than when we inherited her. |
 RufusRufus was returned to Free Rein where he found a home as a companion |
 EricWe retired Eric on veterinary advice, he has a collapsed windpipe which meant he need to live out and only do gentle work. He has a home for life. |
 PepperPepper was sold to be a family pony, having lost the love of teaching our riders. |
 CloudyCloudy was retired so she can spend her twilight years with an old friend. |

 TommySadly put to sleep in April 2018, following years of service to Kingsmead. Rest in Peace. |
 Cha Cha (RIP)Cha Cha was put to sleep in December 2017, she was in her twentieth year; she had arthritis and could no longer enjoy life to the full. Rest in Peace. |
 BingoBingo is out on loan to a private home where he can hopefully enjoy a long and happy retirement. |
 DaiseyWe rescued Daisey in 2016. It took us two years to bring her back to health, we felt she would be better suited to a family home. |
 SummerSummer originally went away on loan, however her loanee fell in love and Summer was happy and settled so we sold her to the family. |
 CharlieCharlie was never going to be a riding school horse. He has found a lovely home where he can continue to improve. |
 ConnorWe eventually decided Connor would be happier in a private home where he would not have to keep adjusting to his riders. |
 SylvieRest in peace. We sold Sylvie; sadly her new owner had to have her put to sleep as a result of colic. |
 Monty (Hockley Monty)Retired from Kingsmead in June 2016; Monty was found to have a heart murmur and we felt it was better for him to have a quieter life. |
 PipRehomed as a companion pony - she deserved to have an easy life as she had been through a lot before joining us. |
 Splodge (Summer Lodge) 2003Rest In Peace 2016 15.3hh Bay Gelding Thoroughbred (ex racehorse) "I used to be a racehorse but now I enjoy the much slower life here at Kingsmead. It has taken me a long time to relax and settle here but now I know I want to stay. I really enjoy hacking although the other horses think they can beat me - don't tell them I am not even trying!" |

 King (Kings Rock)Kings Rock (King) - His racing days had taken their toll and he suffered with arthritis; this sadly caught up with him in the cold weather (Dec 2014), we took the difficult decision to end his suffering. He was a lovely horse to have on our yard and he will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace. |
